Julius Rutherfoord’s head office wins the 2013 Kimberly-Clark Golden Service Awards ‘Healthy Workplace Award’.

The Kimberly-Clark Golden Service Awards are an independently run awards ceremony held every two years to recognise the achievements of the UK’s cleaning industry.

This year, Julius Rutherfoord was shortlisted as finalists for three categories, and we are very pleased to have successfully won the ‘Healthy Workplace Award’ for the measures taken within our own head office in Battersea.

The ‘Healthy Workplace’ category is for “companies that have taken significant steps to provide a more hygienic office environment to help reduce sickness and increase employee wellbeing”.


This new Healthy Workplace Golden Service Award is the ideal companion to our existing Golden Service Award for the ‘Best Cleaned Educational Premises’, won at the last ceremony in 2011.

The other two categories in which we were finalists for 2013 were: C&M Best Cleaned Premises and Best Cleaned Premises – Large Education Establishment. Both of which we are very pleased to have been shortlisted for.

The Kimberly-Clark Golden Service Awards ceremony was held on Friday 1st November 2013 at the Lancaster London hotel. 10 members of the Julius Rutherfoord team representing Operations, Sales and Marketing and Customer Services were all present at the ceremony and were invited to collectively receive the award.

This award is in recognition of the successful work undertaken within our head office since the launch of our Healthy Workplace Initiative in December 2012. This initiative saw Julius Rutherfoord exploring ways to improve both the health and wellbeing of our employees and the cleanliness of our office.

As part of the Healthy Workplace Initiative, we undertook a number of swab tests throughout our office using an ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) reader to measure bacteria levels. The tests helped us to identify areas where bacteria levels were higher than expected and allowed us to introduce measures to cut bacterial prevalence in these areas, including: staff awareness/training, installing anti-bacterial wipes and a paper centre-feed machine.

A further area that the tests identified as having increased levels of bacteria were some of our staff’s mobile phones and tablets. Julius Rutherfoord quickly reacted to this by creating our own specially formulated mobile phone cleaning wipe which eradicates 99% of germs including the common cold, influenza and norovirus.

We are delighted to have won this award and received such recognition as we look to employ the knowledge and expertise that we have gained for the benefit of our clients.
