Julius Rutherfoord recognised as Living Wage Service Provider
In May 2014, Julius Rutherfoord was officially recognised as a Living Wage Service Provider by the Living Wage Foundation.
The London Living Wage is an hourly rate calculated using the ‘Minimum Income Standard’ for London. Decisions about what to include in this standard are set by the public; it is a social consensus about what people need to make ends meet.
Minimum Wage, Living Wage and London Living Wage explained:
- The Minimum Wage (currently £6.31 for those over the age of 21) – All employers are legally obliged to pay a minimum wage to every employee.
- The Living Wage (currently £7.65) is a voluntary rate significantly higher than the Minimum Wage and paid by those employers seeking to provide above and beyond the legal minimum.
- The London Living Wage (currently £8.80) is a higher rate again, to take into consideration the inherent additional costs associated with living and working in London.
It is this higher London Living Wage rate that Julius Rutherfoord has committed to pay all of its Head Office employees, as well as actively encouraging all clients to adopt it for the cleaners on their contracts.
