Cycling to success
This year’s Legal & General Real Assets Cycle to MIPIM 2017 took place in March, and raised a record £550,000 for charity – a fantastic result worth shouting about.
We supported our client Broadgate Estates by sponsoring its team for the grueling long-distance endurance cycling event. Ted Bowler, Broadgate Estates Associate Director – Surveying, and Ed Cree, Director of Asset Management for Canada Water at British Land, raised a total of over £30,000 for Club Peloton during Cycle to MIPIM 2017.
Club Peloton is a fundraising charity that uses cycling events as an opportunity to raise money for great causes. Its main beneficiary is Coram, a dedicated UK children’s charity.
The event took place from 9 to 14 March, and involved riders covering 1,500km from London to the international retail estate show, MIPIM, in Cannes over six days. Teams took part in a relay format, completing at least two of the five or six stages every day, which ranged from 40km to 60km each.
It was an incredibly tough event, with exhausting days of cycling that saw teams push themselves to their limits. A full support crew were on hand, including mechanics, medics, outriders and a lead car. The event was all about team work, overcoming challenges and supporting worthy causes.
Broadgate Estates has raised an impressive £129,502 for various charities since it became the headline sponsor for the event in 2013.
A huge thank you to the riders, generous supporters, and everyone who took part in the Legal & General Real Assets Cycle to MIPIM 2017 – we salute you.
